KARRAGARRA SEA MARKET
SUNDAY 25 SEPTEMBER
Karragarra Sea Market is the signature event for Tide, attracting thousands of attendees each year to the islands.
In 2022 the market celebrates its 25th anniversary, a milestone opportunity to showcase the best of our island-based stallholders, performers and presenters, plus special guests from the mainland.
2022 is set to be the biggest event to date, with an expected one hundred stalls, two performance stages, two guest speaker spaces and a dedicated workshop zone along with a special children’s and family area, nestled just metres from the bay.
The market has a strong sustainability focus, showcasing eco-living choices throughout the stalls as well as the talks and workshops. We work with our stallholders to maintain a low waste event.

KING TIDE: ISLAND SOUNDS
OPENING NIGHT CELEBRATIONS
Roving street performers and pop-up musical acts around the jetty and businesses in our island entrance will set the scene for the festival opening night.
ISLAND SOUNDS
A musical showcase of the best of our island talent. Featuring Damon Riley (Coochiemudlo), Paula Boo (Minjerribah | North Stradbroke) and Tyne and Company (Alcheringa | Macleay). The Tide Festival Band, plus a host of guest singers & instrumentalists.
It's set to be an unforgettable night of creativity and music.
Local food outlets will open early and provide special meals and offers as part of the King Tide opening celebrations. Take away meals can be brought to the venue or you may like to dine in earlier at one of the local establishments within easy walking distance of the Community Hall. Delectable finger food will also be available to purchase within the hall plus a bar and light refreshments will be available.

Celebrating the launch of the inaugural Tide: Redlands Coast Islands Festival. King Tide celebrates creativity, sustainability and community; Tide's core themes.
Events will take place from the point you step off the ferry with pop-up theatre and street performers from 3pm.

A plant and permaculture lovers party with inspirational guest speakers to kick off the festival.

Hannah Moloney all the way from Lutruwita | Tasmania of Good Life Permaculture and Gardening Australia. She will be interviewed by Liz Rendalls about her book The Good Life - How to Grow a Better World.
Alcheringa | Macleay Island local, Tim Barker, previously farm manager for the Permaculture Institute of Australia who will present an engaging permaculture discussion on Planning for Resilience.

ISLAND MAGIC:
THE ROADSHOW SCREENING
This screening of the Island Magic documentary highlights our creative island communities featured in the film alongside creative workshops and performances from locals who appear in the documentary.
This screening will include a special performance by the Joe Geia Band, a handpicked collection of artisan market stalls, weaving circles, food stalls as well as local food outlets offering special meals on the night and a licensed bar. The event is free to attend but a registration ticket is required for entry.
The documentary shares stories of local artists from our islands and the deep connections the artists have with their environment and how it inspires their creative output. Island Magic showcases the traditions and culture of the Quandamooka people, who are the custodians of the lands and seas. The Canaipa | Russell Island event is the second public screening of the documentary and the makers are planning to tour it to all the Redland Coast Islands and beyond.

FESTIVAL OF SMALL HALLS
Tide is thrilled to have the Festival of Small Halls as part of the program. This is the very first time Festival of Small Halls has visited Redlands and is a rare chance to see acclaimed international and national performers on our island shores.
Tide are excited to announce that Catherine MacLellan will be performing, who hails from Canada’s Prince Edward Island. She is one of folk music's true gems and a talented songwriter, having been exposed to the craft from an early age by her Grammy award winning father, Gene MacLellan. As with many songwriters, Catherine feels most at home on the stage, representing Canada at home and across the globe.
Catherine is joined on the tour by multi-instrumentalist and award-winning artist, Karl S. Williams. A genre defying musician with a voice and conviction so powerful it takes your breath away. Karl's music is timeless and deeply rooted in tradition yet ever conversant with the present. This is blues, roots, folk and a unique Australian distillation of Americana, steeped in the swamp water and cane country of northern NSW (the landscape of his childhood).

Macleay Island Community Library presents:
ART MY STORY
Three published authors will talk about their personal stories and experiences. Join this intimate event for a unique author encounter.
Hendrik Gout is an author and former journalist having worked in magazines, newspapers, and television news and current affairs. He will talk about his book "One Upon a Distant Journey" - travels on a motorbike.
Joanna Hackett is an island resident and published author. She has written a number of booklets about the the Southern Moreton Bay Islands and will talk about island history.
Lamb Island | Ngudjuru based award winning author Natalie Sprite will also talk about her writings. She is a songwriter, novelist teacher, author, and mentor. She has worked with the local writers group and helped edit and produce their latest collection of works.
Free event, but RSVP required and gold coin donation encouraged. $5 bubbles and $5 nibbles available to purchase to accompany this lovely literary morning.

Macleay Island Community Library presents:
ART MY WORD
Art my Word, literary art exhibition, is ultimately a fundraiser for the community library on Macleay Island, which is operated solely by volunteers and relies on donations to run.
Art my Word supports literacy and creativity in our community. Artists were challenged to create a new piece of art based on a random lucky dip book, no longer in circulation at the library.
Each artist could interpret the book freely and had free choice of medium in their creation. We have encouraged 2D, 3D, performance and written pieces to be entered. Come and enjoy the blend of literature and art.

CELEBRATING QUANDAMOOKA CULTURE
Elisha will welcome you to country and present a cultural talk followed by a Q & A session around Quandamooka culture.
Elisha is a proud Quandamooka mother, daughter, wife who enjoys living, working and playing on her Quandamooka mother country on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). Elisha has travelled the world and has a passion for indigenous tourism and sharing her culture which has been passed down from her Elders.

Canaipa Connections presents:
CANAIPA CONNECTIONS EXHIBITION
Canaipa Connections is a collective of artists each of whom has some connection with Canaipa (Russell Island) and has taken part in regular artists retreats on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).
The works in this exhibition have been developed at or inspired by the artist retreats. The diverse range of artworks were created using various media including painting, work on paper, weaving with natural fibres, photography and 3D work using found objects, natural fibres and washed up plastic. Exhibiting artists are: Pat Zuber, Bev Jensen, Julie Menzies, Siobhan Demeester, Jennifer Sanzaro, Jen Conde, Sandy Ward, Tricia Dobson, Tania Budd and Bernard Demeester.
Exhibition open 9.30am - 12.30pm weekdays, 10am – 2pm Saturdays.

SAT 1 OCT, 6PM-9PM: TINGIRA BOAT CLUB, ALCHERINGA | MACLEAY ISLAND
Tingira Boat Club presents:
SUNSET OPERA ON THE BAY
With the stage set right on the water's edge, the performance will begin as the sun goes down on the bay behind. Opera singer Lelia-Maree Rider from the Australia Academy of Music will deliver a powerful soundtrack to the setting sun.
Lelia-Maree will be accompanied by Dr Eve Newsome who plays the oboe in Camerata, Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra and teaches oboe and the Flow Music Method at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.
A two-course dinner will be served before the show. Drinks are available at very reasonable bar prices. Seating is limited to 100 people. A complimentary glass of bubbles with nibbles will be served on arrival. During the two hour perfomance, Eve will be performing in the breaks as well as doing several pieces with Lilia-Maree.
General admission: $55 per head.
Gates open from 5:00pm. Dinner at 6.00pm, show from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

THE ISLAND ECO PRINT WORKSHOP
A light hearted and magical afternoon of exploration in Eco printing where we will be extracting the natural tannins from plants through a process that creates prints onto a medium (in this case, paper).

Tricia lives and works on Canaipa | Russell Island and is a member of Canaipa Connections Collective.
Tricia's arts practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking and weaving with natural fibres and ephemeral artwork. She is also an experienced community cultural development practitioner having worked with diverse communities and cultural groups over many years. She is currently working as a freelance visual artist and arts project coordinator.

Macleay Island Inspirational Writers Group presents:
ISLAND STORIES
Come and talk to us. We want your quirky, interesting, funny or deep and meaningful island stories. Why were you drawn to island living? What was your previous life/career?
Stories about funny things that have happened on the island. Water taxi stories. We want to hear from island residents of all ages. All stories to be put into a book which will be a fabulous record of island life.
Our team of typists will be ready to record your stories as you tell them. Once collated and edited, the published collection will hopefully be available to purchase as a fundraiser for the Macleay Island Inspirational Writer's Group.
Whilst telling your Island Story, Meg from Captura would love to "capture" your portrait which will be available for purchase.

Lamb Island Residents Association presents:
YOGA ON THE PITCH
As part of Lamb Island Residents Association's October - Month of Health and Wellness, our first activity is a HUGE Yoga and healthy breakfast, on the Lamb Island cricket pitch!
Everyone is invited but you must 'stretch for your breakfast!' All ages, all abilities. Stand, sit on a chair or on your own beach towel. Chairs provided. A free, fun way to spend a Sunday morning!
Resident Lamb Island | Ngudjuru yoga teacher Leanne Hembrow from Yoga 4 Yachties will be leading the yoga session starting at 9am.
Then free brunch at 10am for those who participated – bacon and egg rolls, fruit, yoghurt and try some kombucha!
The Lamb Van will be picking up from the jetty for those who need transport.

Make sure your tools for growing food and creating green spaces are kept useful by learning how to sharpen them. Bring along one of your own tools such as a pair of secateurs and give them a spruce up while you learn. Our local multi-skilled tool master Russell Benning has a lifetime of experience using all kinds of garden equipment and will share with you his methods for keeping it sharp and efficient.

SPRINGTIME FIBRES
Weaving Workshop
In this workshop you will learn how to identify invasive weed species and prepare them for weaving. Sitting in a traditional (across cultures) weaving circle you will learn how to twist fibres into cord, rope and baskets the way your ancestors have done for millennia.
The session will begin with a Welcoming Circle and Nature Connection Meditation. During the class you will make something to take home and feel your skills improving as you use your hands to create pieces of ancient Human Technology.
Intended audience: all ages. Children under seven to attend with an adult.

TIDE ON COOCHIE
Beautiful Coochiemudlo Island will host a full day’s worth of events. Starting out with the bustling Beach Markets which provide a great family day out.
Only an eight minute ferry ride from Victoria Point and a short walk from the jetty you will find the markets on the foreshore with a variety of stalls including arts and crafts, fashion, homewares and food.
Riding aboard the Coochie Bus, explore Coochiemudlo Island's top attractions on the island experience tour. Set your own pace to go sightseeing at your choice of events including the various gardens, restaurants, artists' galleries and discover the Melaleuca Wetlands and mangrove forests. When a stop interests you, simply disembark from the bus. Tickets are valid for whole day.

RUNNING WILD OUTDOORS
Experience the beauty and bounty of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands on a Running Wild Outdoors tour.
The Running Wild team has developed self-guided walking tour maps for each of the islands which will be handed out at the jetties, or at their Sea Market stall in exchange for a gold coin donation. Better yet, join their qualified conservation staff for a range of guided walking or kayaking tours.
Guided tours will highlight the history of the islands, and knowledgeable staff will help you spot some of our unique flora and fauna. Bookings for guided tours are essential and can be made through the link below or by phoning 0473 435 086. They endeavour to make each of their tour experiences accessible, so please talk to their staff about any particular needs that you or your group has.
